Most Worshipful Clarence Eugene “Bud” Shead, the One Hundred Twenty-Second Brother to be elected Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Nevada, was installed at the conclusion of the 130th Annual Communication in Reno, Nevada on November 15, 1994.

He was born in Pleasanton, Kansas on February 14, 1930, to Elza B. & Mary Ann Shead. Bud was one of 10 children. He attended the public schools graduating from Mulberry High School in 1947. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving in Japan and Korea until 1951 at which time he was discharged. MW Bud moved to the Las Vegas area in 1952 and joined the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union, Local 525 in Las Vegas. He worked for various companies in the area retiring in 1990.

On March 4, 1960, he and Anne MacFarlane were married. With this marriage came a ready-made family for Brother Bud with Anne and her two children, Dale and Margie. Their family grew to include, six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. His beloved Anne preceded him in death.

MW Bud became a Master Mason on May 12, 1959, as a member of Mount Moriah Lodge No. 39 in Henderson, Nevada. He served his lodge as Worshipful Master in 1978. He was appointed to the Nevada Grand Lodge as W. Grand Marshal in 1982 progressing through the line until he was elected Grand Master in November 1994.

He became a Scottish Rite Mason in 1962 receiving his 33rd Degree in 1993. He joined Kerak Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S. in Reno in 1962 and was a charter member of Zelzah Temple in Las Vegas. MW Bud became a York Rite Mason in 1982 joining Boulder Chapter No. 14 where he served as Excellent High Priest in 1988. He also joined Hiram Council No. 5 where he served as I. Master in 1989, Malta Commandry and York Rite College No. 66 in Las Vegas.

MW Bud was also a member of the Kilkenny Council No. 33, Desert Paradise Conclave of Red Cross of Constantine, Order of the Silver Trowel in Nevada, Order of the High Priesthood in Nevada, Life Member of Boulder City York Rite and the Sunrise Chapter No. 28 O.E.S. in 1979.

MW Bud was interested in programs for the youth of his area and was a DeMolay Dad and Chairman of the Board of DeMolay, Frank E. Strum Chapter in Henderson.

Mount Moriah No. 39 & Nevada Masons were proud to have MW Bud serve as their Grand Master from 1994 – 1995. MW Bud laid down his working tools and crossed to that Great Celestial Lodge Above on February 10, 2017, four days from his 87th birthday.

Visitation will be at Palm Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, Nevada 89015 on Monday, February 20, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Masonic Memorial Service will be held at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, Nevada 89005, on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at 9:20 a.m. An opportunity for fellowship and refreshments will be held at the Mount Moriah Lodge No. 39, 480 Greenway Road, Henderson, Nevada 89015, following the memorial service.
